Home / Dogmatism (October 2025)
I've noticed that when you’re in sync with life and acting from positive intentions, you tend to be more relaxed and flexible. But when you’re out of sync or acting from negative motives it can lead to dogmatism.
I think this happens because being in sync feels good in itself, even when things are difficult. But when you feel the pain of being out of sync, the only way to keep going is to rationalize your behavior and continue talking yourself into doing something self-destructive.
When I was little, I used to think being “good” meant trying the hardest and being the most rigid, like a well-functioning piece of machinery. Now I think it’s the opposite. When I or the people around me get dogmatic about religion, politics, family, etc., it makes me question what purpose the dogmatism itself is serving.
